Review research on History of Science and Technology of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province

On March 24, the Department of Science and Technology of Ba Ria – Vung Tau province held a Council meeting to review the provincial funded research “History of the formation and development of science & technology of Ba Ria - Vung Tau" co-authored by Mr. Ho Son Diep (University of Social Sciences and Humanities) and Mr. Nguyen Kim Truong (DOST BR-VT).
Research objective is to reproduce the formation and development of science and technology of BR-VT from 1975 to 2015 on different areas such as organizational structure and operation of science and technology management bodies, and science and technology activities. The research team collected and processed high volume of documents and evidences on history science and technology of the province, evaluated achievements and limitations of science and technology activities throughout different periods of history, studied lessons learned from stages of formation and development. The research forecasted the development trend of science and technology and recommended solutions and provided scientific grounds to promote development of science and technology of BR-VT province as required by the process of industrialization, modernization and international integration.
According to the evaluation of the Council, the research followed research outline and completed objectives as approved by the province. The research reflected complete history of science and technology in the last 40 years (1975-2015) and its positive impact on socio-economic activities of the province. It also provided lessons learned from history and proposed solutions to promote the continuing development of science and technology and provided evidences to develop policies to promote science and technology. Besides, it promoted the dissemination of knowledge of science and technology application and innovation to the public, creating favorable conditions for the development of knowledge economy in the province.
The Council highly evaluated the research on practical side and graded it as good.
