Acceptance of the project on “Developing pilot model for commercial farming of snub-nose pompano”

On October 28th, the Department of Science and Technology held an advisory Council for acceptance assessment of the project on “Developing pilot model for commercial farming of snub-nose pompano (Trachinoutus Blochii Lascepède, 1801) in earthen pond at Long Son commune, Vung Tau city, Ba Ria – Vung Tau province”. MSc. Le Thi Diu was the project leader and the Center of Application Science and Technology Advances was assigned to carry out this project. Mr. Mai Thanh Quang, Director of the Department of Science and Technology chaired the advisory Council.
The project aimed at designing and developing a pilot model for commercial farming of of snub-nose pompano (Trachinoutus Blochii Lascepède, 1801) in a 3,000 m2 earthen pond matching local natural conditions. After 10 months of implementation, the snub-nose pompano grew well without diseases and the fish yield reached high amount of 3.5 tons per 3.000m².
The advisory Council stated that this project has high potential in improving economic efficiency for fish farmers. In addition, the project contributes to diversify farming models for pompano and provides locals with an alternative fish farming model. The Council agreed to accept the project and evaluated as good level.
