On August 18th, the Department of Science and Technology held an advisory council to select organizations and individuals to implement the project "Investigating the current status of valuable medicinal plants in Ba Ria – Vung Tau (BR-VT) with the aim of use management, conservation and sustainable development". Mr. Mai Thanh Quang - Director of the Department of Science and Technology chaired the Council.
The main objective of the project is to develop a list of valuable medicinal plants in BR-VT as well as the growth, cultivation and use of about 15 to 20 main medicinal plants and propose schemesfor use management, development and conservation of these plants.
There were two application dossiers, including:
1. The first dossier: MSc. Tran Van Lam, project leader and his team from the Research and Development center for High Technology Agriculture Ho Chi Minh City.
2. The second dossier: Dr. Tran Thi Lien, project leader and her team from the National Institute of Medicinal Materials.
After reviewing the dossiers, Dr. Tran Thi Lien and her team were selected to implement the project. The Council also required the team to modify some contents before implementation.
